We started with a question no one had answered well.
India has one of the largest legal professions in the world — over 1.5 million enrolled advocates — and yet the tools available to most of them looked no different from a decade ago. Research was manual. Drafting was slow. Examination prep relied on photocopied notes passed between students.
Meanwhile, AI was transforming adjacent industries. But the legal-AI products that existed were built for Western markets — US case law, English-language statutes, American courtroom norms. They did not speak to an Indian advocate preparing a matter in a sessions court, or a law student sitting the AIBE.
We founded Cosmix LLP to build that missing layer — software that understands the Indian legal system from the inside, built with the rigour the profession demands and the accessibility it has historically lacked.
